Building Inspector

The Building Inspector is employed by the Town of Rockland and is responsible for issuing all building, electrical, HVAC and plumbing permits. The Building Inspector is charged with the duty of overseeing construction in all phases for any project being done within the Town’s boundaries. Bob Gerbers has been serving as the Town’s Building Inspector since 2002.

Permits

Some examples that require a permit are:

• Additions • Decks • Fences • Garages
• Culverts • Ponds • Pools • Sheds
• Basement finishing/remodeling
• Mechanical/structural changes to primary or accessory structures
• All commercial construction and alterations
• All new residential construction

Fee Schedule

Failure to apply for permits before beginning the project may result in double permit fees at the discretion of the building inspector.

Licensing

General, HVAC (heating, venting and air conditioning), electrical and plumbing contractors are required to have State of Wisconsin licenses and credentials. State of Wisconsin licensing and credential requirements and other state code information are available by visiting their website or calling (608) 261-8500.
